Carol Barker Christensen unexpectedly passed away January 28th, 2008 in the Utah Valley Hospital Provo, Utah from a brain hemorrhage. She was 69 years old. She was born March 6, 1938 in Logan, Utah to William Vermont Barker and Rozella Beatrice Laursen.
She attended the Logan schools where she was active in student activities including student Cornel of the sponsor corp. She attended Utah State University graduating with a composite degree in Elementary Education and Special Education.
She married R. Halbert Christensen in the Logan Temple March 18, 1959. They lived 37 years in California where they raised their 5 children. She was a mother and home maker until the children were raised. She then returned to the classroom where she taught all ages from kindergarten through High School spending most of her time as a 2nd grade teacher. Teaching was one of the joys of her life. She loved the children and the children loved her.
She was active in the LDS Church having served in all of the women auxiliary organizations as a teacher and/ or a member of the presidency. She and her husband served a mission to Indonesia and Thailand. At the time of her death they were ordinance workers in the Manti temple and serving in a Branch Presidency in the Provo MTC. She served on writing committees for the Church and has a strong testimony of the resurrection.
She is survived by her husband R. Halbert Christensen, daughters Teri Remsberg (Dirk), Nanette Cutler (Brad) and sons Kert Christensen (Catherine), Daniel Christensen (Monique), Lance Christensen (Malinda) and "son" Barita Siregar (Sukma) Indonesia.
They have 23 grandchildren.
Viewing will be Sunday February 3, at the Wheeler Mortuary 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Monday February 4 at the LDS Canyon Chapel on 1965 East Canyon Road in Springville, UT. from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. The funeral will follow at 10:30 am.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Snow College Reuel E and Vonda Christensen Scholarship fund in the name of Carol Ann Christensen, 150 East College Avenue, Box 1040, Ephraim, Utah 84627.
Interment in the Ephraim Cemetery February 4, at 3:00 pm.
