With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carla Roberta McCormick, age 86, who left this world surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October 29, 1938, in Fillmore, Utah, to Edward and Rita Carroll, Carla was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Carla had a big personality that kept everyone on their toes—no one ever quite knew what she would say next. She had a quick wit, a sharp sense of humor, and a heart full of love. She and James opened their home to dozens of people over the years, welcoming each one with open arms and making them feel like family.
Carla is survived by her beloved husband, James McCormick, with whom she would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this April. She leaves behind her children, Wendy Bonnell, Terri Perkins, and Robert McCormick; her grandchildren, Kimber Ellison, Billie Anne Hull (Nic Hull), and Skyler McCormick (Kaysha); and her great-grandchildren, Danny McCormick, Skyler, Patience, and Challis Hull. She is also survived by her dear sister, Beth Hunt and her brother Lee Carroll.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Rita Carroll; her brothers, Duwayne, Ralph, Ross, Thomas Lynn, and Vance Carroll; her sisters, Gwen Leis, Mariah Christensen, and Lura Carroll; as well as her son, Scott McCormick, and grandson, Jeremiah McCormick.
Carla was a loving and dedicated mother who took great pride in raising her four beautiful children. She was an avid bowler who traveled across the country to compete, always making her family proud. A lover of adventure, Carla found joy in traveling and collecting treasures from every place she visited. She had a green thumb and took great care in nurturing her flowers and garden. Whether playing bingo, spending time with loved ones, or simply enjoying life’s simple pleasures, Carla’s warmth and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Her legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on through her family and the countless memories she created with them. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
A visitation service for Carla’s will be held at the Mapleton Wheeler Mortuary, 82 West 400 North Mapleton Utah, on Friday February 7, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a burial to follow at the Fillmore Cemetery on Saturday February 8, 2025. A celebration of Carla’s life will be held prior to the services.
