Bruce Wilhelmsen

November 4, 1924 — August 5, 2008

Bruce Wilhelmsen was born Nov. 4, 1924 in St. Charles, Id. to Cora Law and Niels Wilhelmsen. Following high school, he served two years in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He married Meredith Rich, his childhood sweetheart, on Nov. 18, 1943 in the Logan, Utah Temple. Five children were born to this union. He went on to pursue his education with a BS degree from USAC (Utah State University) in Logan, UT. and a Master of Education Degree from the University of Idaho at Moscow.



Bruce spent his life in service in the LDS church and in the communities in which he lived. His profession involved teaching vocal music in elementary through college level. His experience included directing many well known musical productions and directing large community choirs. After retirement, he and his wife served an eighteen month mission at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City,Utah.



He will always be remembered for his beautiful tenor voice, his kind and loving personality, and his lasting influence on those that he taught.



He is survived by his wife, Meredith, and their four children: Wayne (Linda) Wilhelmsen, Carla (James) Lamph, Alan (Wanda) Wilhelmsen, RaNiel (Miachel) Dunn, 26 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren.



Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 11, 2008 at 1 p.m. in the Mapleton Stake Center 970 N 400 E, Mapleton, UT. Friends may call on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mapleton Wheeler Mortuary at 82 W 400 N, Mapleton, UT or Monday 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in St. Charles, Idaho.
