1941~2014
Bruce L. Boyer, age 74, of Donna, Texas, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, 21 April 2014. He was born on 22 January 1940 in Vincennes, Indiana to Leo M. and Helen Boyer. He married Bonnie Sue Smith on 15 May 1960 in Denver, Colorado and in 1990 was sealed for time and eternity in the Manti Temple.
Bruce served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1979. He served as a Chief Warrant Officer and developed a love of flying. His Army career took their family on many adventures. Upon retiring after 21 years he continued to fly as a pilot with Rocky Mountain Helicopters and Intermountain Health Care's Life Flight until 2001. He often spoke fondly of his experiences and the people he worked with.
Bruce loved watching movies, camping, boating, shooting with the grandsons, and traveling (especially cruises). He was a loving Father and Popo. His greatest joy was spending time with them. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bruce is survived by his wife and their three children: Traci (David) Shepard of Farr West, UT, Kelly (Mike) Smith of Cedar Park, TX and Andra (Dale) Green of Spanish Fork, UT.; a special nephew & family: Will (Vanessa) Smith of Denver, CO.; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister (Norma Boyer Taylor), brother (Ricky Boyer), and in-laws (William Warren Smith I and Vera Whoel Smith).
Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Friday 9 May 2014 at 2:00 pm. This military service will be held at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park at 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah. There will be no viewing.
In gratitude for the loving care he received, the family has asked that in lieu of flowers that a donation in his memory be made to The Comfort House at 617 Dallas Ave, McAllen, TX 78501 or to your local Hospice House Facility.
