Brian Rodney Oldroyd

March 30, 1982 — May 2, 2023

Springville, UT

Our gentle giant, Brian Rodney Oldroyd was born in Payson, Utah on March 30, 1982, to Rodney Herbert and Christine Child Oldroyd. He passed away at the age of 41 on May 2, 2023 from Metastatic Melanoma. Brian was raised in Springville, Utah where he attended school, graduating from Springville High School in 2000. After fulfilling a mission for The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Florida Tallahassee Mission, Brian attended and graduated from Southern Utah University. This is where he met his wife, and perfect companion, Kelsey Cahoon. They were sealed in the Las Vegas LDS temple on May 9, 2008. Together, they moved to San Jose, California, where Brian earned his doctorate degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic. His desire to once again be close to family, the mountains, and his beloved Art City Days, hastened his return to Springville, Utah. He established his practice, Oldroyd Chiropractic, in Spanish Fork, where he found great joy and fulfillment helping his patients and forming lasting friendships.

Brian and Kelsey’s family has grown to include their four incredible boys, Stetson (11), Tanner (9), Bridger (7), and Brooks (3). Brian’s family meant the world to him and his absolute favorite part of life was being a loving husband and father. While Brian was a chiropractor by trade, he was a hunter by heart.  As an avid outdoorsman, he instilled his same passions and respect of nature in his boys. Hunting, fishing, and hiking were all favorite pastimes, but the biggest thrill came from shed hunting with his brother, Mitch, and their buddies. Whether he was on the sidelines of his boys’ games, on the court with his friends, or gathered with loved ones watching a big game, sports were a staple in his life.  His fun and witty sense of humor, his hugs, and his great smile will forever be missed.

Brian was also known for his immense dedication and faith to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had a testimony and love of the Savior. He told his friends and family, “if you ever want to feel close to me, meet me at the temple. I won’t be far.”

Brian is survived by his wife, Kelsey, and four boys, his parents, his siblings Emily (Colton) Peterson of Springville, Mitchell (Sara) Oldroyd of Springville, Alyssa (Chase) Powers of Spanish Fork, and nieces (Kate, Ginny, Jessie, Claire, Quincy, Capri, and Nora) and nephew (Drew). Brian is survived by Kelsey’s family, her parents (Paul and Terri Cahoon) of Las Vegas, NV, her siblings: Nicole (Brady) Petersen of Las Vegas, NV, Matt (Jordie) Cahoon of Ely, NV, and Kaitlin (Michael) McCann of Las Vegas, NV, and their children (Briggs, Grant, Teagan, Olivia, Remi, and Barrett).

The family would like to express a sincere and heartfelt thank you to Dr. Wallentine, his nurses and staff, Annette Nielsen, and all the medical professionals at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Enough could not be said for the amazing person Kelsey is. She is the ultimate friend, caregiver, secretary, comforter, nurse, and eternal companion to her beloved Brian.
