Brent Nelson Weight, age 95 of Springville, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012. He was born January 12, 1917 in Springville, Utah to William Fredrick and Sarah Elizabeth Nielsen Weight. Brent married Fay Mary Tracy on November 13, 1951 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
In Brent's younger years, he spent a lot of time on the family ranch up Wanrhodes with his cousins, uncles, father and his Grandfather Alfred Weight, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Fay raised their eight children on a farm in Fairfield, Montana.
After graduating from Springville High School, Brent attended BYU and Utah State where he majored in Chemistry. He worked as a soil scientist for Soil Conservation Service.
Brent was an active member of the LDS Church and served in scouting, as a ward financial clerk, Sunday School Superintendant, a leader in the Stake 70's, and at Provo Genealogy.
He is survived by his wife, Fay and children: Larry B. (Jolene), William L. (Shirley), Reta K. (Paul) Brown, Mary E. (Ken) Elder, Leon N., Nola E. (Lyle) Schofield, Kent L. (Marilee), Becky (Dave) DeLeeuw; 31 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nina A. Weight, a sister, Madeline Beal, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the LDS Chapel at 840 S. 400 E., Springville. There will be a viewing held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville and Thursday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
