Bradley D. Gooch

January 15, 1972 — July 30, 2018

Brad Gooch, 46, Springville

Joyce Taylor Gooch and Nedra Mae Knight Gooch welcomed Bradley Deviere Gooch into their family on January 15, 1972. The 6th of 7 children, Brad had a lot of siblings to spoil and make mischief with him.

All Brad’s growing up years were spent in Hemet, California, where he graduated from high school in 1990.  In 1991-1992 he served a two-year LDS mission in Bordeaux and Marseille, France.

While later working as a psych tech with the youth at the Utah State Hospital in Provo, Utah, Brad was impressed with the recreational therapist, Jodi Givens– an attractive brunette with a beautiful smile, as well as a good, albeit rather crazy, sense of humor. After a brief dating period, he married Jodi, the love of his life, on September 27, 1997 in the Boise, Idaho LDS Temple.  They were subsequently blessed with three amazing children – Joshua Taylor, Todd Orin and Carly, who they faithfully raised in the LDS church.

In his own quiet way, Brad touched the lives of countless people around him. He was mindful of others and always willing to help where needed. His patience and love were a blessing to everyone he interacted with.

Brad’s knowledge of all things computer-related made him the ‘go-to’ guy for friends, relatives and acquaintances in need of his many talents. He was also a valuable asset to Cleantelligent Software, where he has been employed for the past nine years and was currently working as the Information Technology (IT) Manager.

Brad’s love of his family was evident in every aspect of their lives. He was never too busy to help his wife or a child with a project, and his love of adventure was best realized in the company of Jodi and their children or with his brothers. Family photo albums are filled with snapshots of smiling faces with various mountain, ocean or national monuments in the background. He often encouraged his children to try new things and push themselves physically, even when they were scared. He always wanted his family to be the best people they could be.

Brad enjoyed repairing bikes - for himself, family or others – and even found time, between repairs, to ride them with his brothers, Rob and Randy, or with his family. He was, in fact, enjoying this favorite pastime, with Rob, when the faulty components in his very big, generous heart gave out.

Brad is survived by his wife Jodi Givens Gooch, children Josh, Todd and Carly.  His siblings, who all survive him, are: Tammy (Pat) Brose of Pittsfield, PA, Debbie of Springville, UT, Randy of Springville, UT, Kevin (Sheri) of Moreno Valley, CA, Rob of Springville, UT, and Chris (Laura) of Palmer, Alaska. Many nieces, nephews, in-laws and close friends also deeply mourn his passing.  He was preceded in death by his parents Joyce and Nedra Gooch.

Viewings will be held at the Wheeler Mortuary at 211 East 200 South in Springville on Thursday, August 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the LDS Church at 350 North 400 East in Springville from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018.  Funeral services will be held at the church on Friday, August 3rd, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the “Brad and Jodi Gooch Donation Fund” at any branch of Mountain America Credit Union or the Brad Gooch Memorial Fund at GoFundMe.
