Mapleton - Blake Everett passed away peacefully at his home in Mapleton, Utah surrounded by family on January 4, 2009 from causes incident to old age. He was 92. Blake was born on July 16, 1916 in Mapleton, Utah to Charles Averett and Hilda Marchbanks Averett. He graduated from Springville High School. He married Berniece Johnson on October 14, 1938. They had one daughter, one son, seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Blake loved to farm, fish and hunt. He was never happier than when he had a fish on the line, or a big buck, pheasant or Canada goose in his sights. He was a conscientious worker. He labored long hours at difficult jobs without complaint. He worked for 37 years at the Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company as chief iron melter and later as a foreman never missing a day because of sickness. He was always there when his family needed him. He loved his wife dearly and missed her terribly after her death in 1990. He is survived by his children LaRaine Wetherell, Dennis (Rebecca) Everett, 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Berniece, one sister Melba Bonavitch, and three brothers Gerald, Jesse and Neal.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mapleton 7th Ward "Red Church" (1000 W. 1215 N.). A viewing will be held on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary (2nd S. 2nd East Springville) and Friday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery following services.
