Blaine Hollis Johnson

d. October 19, 2012

June 16, 1924 - October 19, 2012

Blaine was born to Melvin A Johnson and Meryl Snelson in American Fork, Utah. The family moved to Springville, Utah where Blaine attended school. He graduated from Springville High school in 1942. Blaine married Almah Miner in 1943 and later divorced. Blaine married Richine Allred in 1969 and they have spent 43 wonderful years together.

He attended Brigham Young University on a basketball scholarship and after one year joined the US Marine Corp and was assigned to the Fourth Marine Division. He did his basic training in San Diego, California and then shipped out for active duty. He returned to BYU after the war and graduated in 1953 in marketing and economics. He went to work for the West Bend Company where he built a career for the next twenty-six years as a factory representative. The company required that everyone retire at age sixty-two. Not ready to retire, he started another career in the construction business which he truly loved. During his working years Blaine built a family cabin in Midway, Utah. The entire family has special memories of this gathering place. He built homes for several years before finally retiring.

Blaine as a lifelong member of the LDS Church served in many positions, including Ward Clerk, Elders Quorum President and a counselor in the Bishopric. He also served two years as a Member Locator Missionary at the Church Office Building. Blaine was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to play golf and tennis. He enjoyed traveling and had many wonderful family vacations.

Blaine is survived by his wife Richine, six wonderful children, Dennis Johnson (Barbara), Brent Johnson (Lyn), Jenny Jackson (Tom), Brad Johnson (Janna), Greg Lewis (Kirsten), Nancy Gleue (Mark) and thirty-eight equally wonderful grandchildren. Blaine is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Howard and his sister Dorothy.

The family wishes to express their eternal gratitude for the wonderful caregivers of the Veterans Nursing Home and the incredible care and comfort they provided.
