Beverly Sumsion Miller was told by her parents Edna Bella Anthon Sumsion and Ernest Elvin Sumsion that she was born in Springville, Utah on February 21, 1927 at noon as the U.S. Steel Plant whistle blew. She was one of eleven children, nine of whom reached adulthood. She enjoyed music, dancing, art, seeing and taking part in plays as she grew up. She enjoyed being in the marching band even thought they couldn't go very far because of the war rations on gasoline. She grew up and spent her early married life in and around Springville Utah. She was working at the Post Office when she met her husband Donald. She had five wonderful children, three that were born in Utah and the other two were born in Southern California after the family moved in December of 1952.
Beverly enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and then Great-grandchildren grow. She loved to take care of and play with the children. Beverly was a very unselfish woman, who loved to serve others. She moved to Hawaii to help one of her daughters raise her son, so that she could work. Beverly moved to Utah and then Arizona to be closer to her grandchildren and to help another daughter. Beverly made sure that when she bought a house she had plenty of room, just in case anyone needed a place to stay. One of the favorite memories of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren is when Grandma would let them take down some of her dolls that she collected and look at them.
Beverly will be sorely missed, but we know that she is in a better place with lots of family and friends. She can now get on with teaching and sharing the gospel to all that will listen. We love you Bev.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville with a viewing one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
