Betty Jean Walters, 67, of Pahrump, Nevada, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Spring Valley Hospital, Las Vegas, NV, following a brief illness.

She was born to Frank Torrence and Elsie McDaniel Torrence (Dahle) on August 18, 1946. She married David Keim of Mapleton, UT, where she made her home for many years. They later divorced and she moved to Las Vegas, NV, and subsequently to Pahrump, NV, where she lived the remainder of her life. She was married to the late Rex Walters. They later divorced but remained friends until he preceded her in death a short while ago.

Betty grew up in Springville, UT, where she attended school, grades elementary through part of high school. She finished high school in Denver, CO. After high school she moved back home to Springville where she worked at various occupations, including a cashier and a machinist at Whitney Stoop in Lindon, UT, where she worked for 10 years. After moving to Nevada she worked many years counting money for the gaming industry. Betty loved people of all walks of life. She brought a smile and a positive attitude to everyone she met. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and very much loved teaching primary.

She is survived by a son, Chad Keim (the late Jamie Norton) of Pahrump, NV, a daughter, Christine Williams (Darin) of Springfield, VA, and a brother Bob Dahle of Mapleton, UT and three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, with one more due any day and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Torrence and Bernell & Elsie Dahle and a sister, Shirley Mae Robinson.

A memorial service was held May 14, 2014, at the Manse Springs Ward in Pahrump, NV. Funeral services will be held May 24, 2014 at the Mapleton 16 Ward, 1316 South Main Street, Mapleton, UT, at 12:00 Noon. Friends and family call between 7 - 9 PM May 23, 2014 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah 84663 or at 11:00 AM on May 24th at the Mapleton 16th Ward.
