Betty Marinda Teela of Farmington passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010, at at the age of 71 years. She was born on May 6, 1939, at Salt Lake City, UT, , daughter of the late Alexander Joel and Marinda Grant (Hatch) Pehrson. Also preceding her in death was her Husband, Gerald Oliver Teela in 1996, a son, John David Teela in 2007; brothers, Henry, John, Max, Darrell, Joseph, Don and sister, Connie.
While attending Brigham Young University she met and married Gerald Oliver Teela in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple on May 24, 1962. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She had a wonderful love of books and thirsted for knowledge. Her whole life was spent gaining education and teaching her family and others. Through tutoring and service, she blessed and changed the lives of so many children. She leaves a legacy to us all with her book/program Teaching Children to Read at Home. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, cooking, homemaking, beautiful music, family history and genealogy.
Betty is survived by her children, Susan Marinda (Mrs. Wayne) Hafner of Farmington, Gerald Teela, Jr. and his wife, Lori of Clinton, UT, Shauna (Mrs. Brian) Gallman of Gilbert, AZ, Rosanne Twitchell of Gilbert, AZ and James Teela and his wife Terry of Liberty, MO; 21 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margie Pehrson Christensen and Carol Pehrson Adams and a brother, Wallace George Pehrson.
Friends may call at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 14. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the beginning of the service at 2 p.m. in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
