Betty Jane Shockley

Betty Jane Millard Shockley, 84, died May 14, 2008, of complications following a stroke. She was born Nov. 30, 1923 in Los Angeles, California, to Harold Joseph and Rose Martha Weight Millard. Betty married Robert Jackson Shockley April 30, 1947. They were sealed in the Provo Temple in September 1988.



Bob and Betty loved to work together. They built their home in Helendale, California, where they raised their only child, a son, Robert Jay. In their retired years Bob and Betty enjoyed traveling across the US. Betty loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family gatherings were her favorite times. She was known to her family as being generous, kind and gentle.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Andrew, and her dog, Rambo. She is survived by one sister, Marjorie and Don Bolton, one brother, Jay and Jeanette Millard, all of California; her son and wife, Bob and Susan; six grandchildren, Matt (Melanie), Ian (Crystal), Janette (Matt) Anderson, Mark (McKayla), Jeff (Allie), Megan, and seven great grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew.



The family thanks the supportive staff at Art City Nursing Center for their help and care of Betty in her last weeks of life.



Funeral services will be May 19, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville, UT, with a viewing one hour prior at the same location. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove cemetery.
