Beth Hall Barney passed from this life on Thursday, March 19, 2009 in Springville, Utah, at the home where she was born. She was born December 31, 1921, in Springville to Pearl Averett and E. Owen Hall. She married Arnold A. Barney in Salt Lake City on September 20, 1940. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.
In 1940 Beth graduated from Springville High School, where she was active in band, orchestra and student council. Beth was a wonderful homemaker. She made quilts for family members and enjoyed reading, sewing, and finishing puzzles. She worked in the Primary organization for more than 25 years of consecutive service and was an active Visiting Teacher. She also loved her visiting teachers. Beth was proud to be a member of DUP. She was also proud of her country and was always patriotic.
Beth loved and served her family in every way. She is survived by her six children: Merrill (Melinda), St. George; Lawrence (Erlene), Salt Lake City; Jeanne (Stephen) Christensen, Henderson, Nevada; Bonnie (Sam) Metcalf and Dianne (Tom) Kreth, all of Springville; and Arna Barney of Salt Lake City. She has 24 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, 3 grandsons, and all 5 of her sisters. The family would like to thank Lola Farnsworth who was her loyal friend for many years, her visiting teachers, home teachers and her neighbors for their care and love.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Spring Creek First Ward at 860 East 200 North, Springville, Utah. There will be a viewing on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, and prior to services at the church on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.
