Battista (Nino) Antonio Antonino, age 87, passed away on August 4, 2013, at his home in Mapleton, Utah with his wife Arlene by his side. He was born October 13, 1925 in Rolapp, Carbon County, Utah to Anna Bleggi Antonino and Antonio (Tony) Antonino. They moved to Mapleton in 1930. Nino attended schools in Mapleton and Springville. He was drafted into the Army in January 1944 and served in the South Pacific. He married Arlene Whiting on April 30, 1947. They were later sealed in the Provo Temple and enjoyed 66 years of marriage. He was a police officer and volunteer fireman for Mapleton City. He worked many years in the Operating Engineers Union, retiring in 1986. Nino was very active in civic affairs serving as President of the Mapleton Little League and volunteered for 16 years as the coach of the Mapleton Yankees. He also served as President of the Mapleton Jaycees and Secretary of the Maple Leaf Riding Club. Nino was very proud and honored to be asked to serve as the Co-Grand Marshal, along with his wife Arlene, of the Mapleton July 24th parade. He held many Scouting positions in the LDS church and served in the Provo Temple as an ordinance worker. He was a Home Teacher. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Nino was very patriotic and had a deep love of Country.

He is survived by his wife Arlene of Mapleton, their six children: Vickie (Springville); Gary (Sally), South Jordan; Paul (Mary), Springville; Cindy (Steve), Las Vegas; Brent (Suzie), Mapleton and Judy (James), South Weber; 24 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and seven brothers and four grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on August 8, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Wheeler Mortuary, 82 W 400 N, Mapleton, Utah. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 9, 2013 at the 6th ward chapel, 1600 North Main in Mapleton. A viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 am at the church prior to the funeral service.
