She was born October 8, 1919, in Payson, Utah, to George Albert and Geneva Stewart Schaerrer. She attended schools in Payson and graduated from Payson High School. She married John Lynn Houser on June 28, 1941, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple August 14, 1941, due to the World War II conflict. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2000.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints and served compassionately in Relief Society, Primary, and Young Women callings. She loved the calling of Visiting Teacher that she was able to do this until her last year. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and local Modern Mother's club. She and her husband served a mission together in the Chicago Temple and held many callings in the Provo Temple.

Mother had superb homemaking skills. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, and handiwork. She was known for her outstanding cooking especially desserts, breads, and homemade caramels.

She loved the outdoors especially gardening with lovely flowers and tasty vegetables. She and Dad enjoyed camping in Hobblecreek Canyon and many trips to Yellowstone, Fish Lake, and Ottercreek Reservoir. They loved going to Hawaii. She and Lynn loved to fish and they always brought home their limit of trout to be shared with family and friends.

Mom and Dad supported BYU football and attended many BYU football bowl games.

She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart and extended service to her family and neighbors.

She is survived by her children, Lynda (Richard) Money of North Ogden, Utah, David (Lucille) Houser, and Pat (Ray) Newbury of Springville, Utah; 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Grant Meldrum, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn, Parents, son-in-law, Michael Woodward, siblings, Opal (Willis Field), Stewart (Ramona) Schaerrer, Ada (Tom) Lee, Russell (Marie) Schaerrer, and Merilyn Meldrum.

Mother loved her neighbors and friends. After Dad's passing, many neighbors and friends helped and cared for Mom, especially thanks to Bud and Lucille Johnson for their tender love, service and care. Thanks to Mark Middlebrook for being such a faithful home teacher and friend. We wish to thank Vista Hospice care: Dr. Gary Garner, Nancy Trapnell, RN, Rosemary Warner, CNA, Bert Rowley, LCSW, and Sue Bergen, Chaplain. Mother moved into Canterbury Place assisted living in December 2010 where they loved and cared for her affectionately. Thanks to Dr. Craig Cook, Dr. Richard Olsen, the wonderful doctors and nurses at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and Orem Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Thanks, Mother, for all of your service and support. We will miss you.
