Anna Loeen Nemelka

January 23, 1999 — July 10, 2009

Anna Loeen Nemelka returned to her Heavenly Father on July 10, 2009, after her courageous struggle with chordoma tumors. Anna was born January 23, 1999, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Joseph and Christy L. Nemelka. She came into this world a talented, independent, and beautiful gift to her family and Anna utilized all her gifts to inspire and touch those who came into her life. She radiated energy and enthusiasm in all her endeavors and inspired all those around her to find joy in whatever they were doing. She enjoyed dance, athletics, school, playing with friends, art, music, clothes, Club Penguin and spending time with her family - especially her brothers. She loved animals and was especially appreciative of - as she said - "a gift from Heavenly Father" by providing her dog 'Zero' as a constant and loyal companion for the past 1.5 years. Anna consistently demonstrated courage, patience and wisdom far beyond her years as she endured the trials she was required to bear during her mortal existence. Anna's physical presence will be greatly missed by her family and the lives who she was a part of. Everyone will certainly cherish the ten years she spent with us knowing that the influence she had in our lives will never be forgotten.

Anna is survived by her parents, Joseph and Christy L. (Warren) Nemelka; her brothers, Joseph, Matthew, Harrison and Jack; grandparents Jesse and Connie (Whiting) Warren and David and Ingrid (Fritzen) Nemelka as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was recently preceded in death by her great grandmother and close friend, Loeen Crandall Whiting.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the dozens of physicians, nurses and health care professionals who touched their lives through their professionalism, dedicated service and compassion to Anna and her family. Specifically, the family would like to thank Anna's oncologist in Boston at MGH/Harvard, Dr. Norbert J. Liebsch and her primary care pediatrician, Dr. Phil Freestone, for their patience, love and concern for Anna and her entire family over the past six years. The family would also like to thank all the many friends and family who have loved, supported, encouraged and inspired them.
