Orema�"Ann Patrick Nelson, 80, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 3, 2013, surrounded by family and friends.
Ann was born on January 6, 1933, in Springville, Utah. She was the youngest of nine children born to John Hulet Patrick and Lura Ann White Patrick. After graduating from Springville High School, Ann studied home economics at Utah State University. She completed her degree at the University of Utah and furthered her education at Brigham Young University. Ann taught home economics at West High and East High in Salt Lake City, and she taught foods at Provo High School from 1956 to 1966.
Ann married Bryant Nelson on June 25, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised four children and supported, fed, counseled, and encouraged countless friends and relatives.
Ann fulfilled many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She excelled at teaching the youth through her engaging seminary, Sunday School, and Young Women lessons and her marvelous camps for Young Women. For 15 years Ann served in the baptistry of the Mount Timpanogos Temple, where she made many dear friends. Ann was wholly dedicated to her family. She worked tirelessly to make the Patrick Family Reunion a joyful occasion that strengthened family ties through fun and steady laughter. We are deeply saddened to have lost Ann at this season a�" the time of year she loved the most a�" but we look forward to a happy reunion and find comfort in the thought of her celebrating the holidays with many of the people she held most dear.
Ann's parents and five siblings have preceded her. She is survived by Bry Nelson, her husband of 59 years; children Chris (Catherine) Patrick, Bruce (Karin) Patrick, Scott (Patricia) Patrick, and Megan Nelson; sisters Elma (Wayne) Evans, Erma (Evan) Whitesides; brother Morris (Terry) Patrick; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 13, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the Springville Center Street chapel, located at 355 East Center Street. A viewing will be held Thursday, December 12, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Cascade 5th Ward chapel, 1051 East 200 North, Orem. Another viewing will be held Friday, December 13, 2013, at the Springville Center Street chapel one hour before the funeral. Interment will take place at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
