At the age of three his father passed away and his mother remarried Oliver Ward a year later, gaining six new siblings. He married his sweetheart Eula Mae Wilson on January 21, 1949. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they resided and raised their family of four kids in Brookside Subdivision, Springville, Utah.
Roy grew up in Provo and attended Provo High School. In 1943 he entered in the US Army serving in France and Germany during WWII, fighting for a country he dearly loved. He returned home upon the end of the war and married Eula. He supported his family using his Carpentry trade, and was a member of the Carpenters Union for 65 years. Roy could often be found working on some project in his small workshop or taking a walk down to the creek. He never missed the opportunity to converse with whomever he came across. He had a special knack for being able to talk to anyone. He cherished his time with Eula. They were members of the Good Sam Club (Happy Hobo's), as well as "snowbirds" in Mesa, Arizona escaping the cold Utah winters.
Roy's pride and joy was his family. He was the proud father of Lynette, Colleen, Ross, and Michele. He could often be found supporting his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in their various activities, whether it was a ball game, musical concert, a rodeo, or a dance recital. He loved taking the opportunity to share in special events. He was so proud of his family.
He is survived by his wife Eula, children (Jerry Loveland), Colleen (Tom Stradling), Ross Riding and Michele (Robert Folsom), his sister Dorothy (Dean Spackman) as well as, his 14 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren.
