Jacqueline Senior Johnson returned to her Heavenly Father on October 31, 2015, reuniting with her beloved husband Reed.
Jackie was born in Santaquin, Utah Dec. 31, 1923 to Oliver Percy (Maud), and Percilla Kay Senior. She grew up on Main Street in Springville, living above the family business (Seniors Hotel, cafe, and billiards)
She attended Lincoln, Grant and Jefferson schools, and the old Springville High School where she played the clarinet. Through her activity in the band she first caught sight of a trumpet player from Spanish Fork, Reed M. Johnson. She also attended BYU and the University of Utah.
After High School she met and married Richard Wade on the 2 Nov. 1944. They were later divorced. She then renewed her earlier friendship with Reed Johnson and they were married Oct. 1, 1947 in Salt Lake Temple. He was her devoted companion until his death in 2010.
Jackie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. When living in the Springville 8th ward, she taught the Blazer boys for a number of years and always had a soft spot for her boys throughout her life.
Jackie loved her family and especially loved to dote on her grandchildren and took every opportunity to help her family whenever needed. She was their very special "Nanny".
She was a devoted friend who remembered everyone's names, dates, family and ancestry. Jackie really cared about everyone. Once you were her friend you were always a friend and she was good at making friends wherever she went.
Jackie was always active and served as PTA President at Westside elementary school. She was the President of The Riverside Ladies at Riverside Country Club where she and Reed frequented throughout their lives. She was County Vice Chair for the Republican Party and was a precinct judge for many years. She was a gourmet cook, and was a fantastic gardener. In 2001, Reed and Jackie's home and garden were on display in the Utah Valley Hidden garden show.
Jackie was a fighter. In her last years she endured many trials with strength and faith, and had amazing endurance. Her influence and example will be missed by all who know her.
She is survived by one daughter Tracy Huntington (Michael), grandchildren, Scott Huntington, Heather Daniel (Brett), Jana Johnson (Chris), Ashley Mitchell (Jared) and 11 great grandchildren.
A VERY SPECIAL THANKS to Bel-Aire Senior Living, Envision Hospice, and the many people in the Health Care industry who took such loving care of mom during all her surgeries and problems and of course, to her neighbors and friends who with devotion helped when and wherever needed. There are truly angels on earth.
