William Edward Neff passed away at home surrounded by his family on February 9,
2017, at the age of 74. He was born June 10, 1942 in Eureka, Utah, to Joseph William
Neff and Katherine Jean Collias Neff. As a young boy his family moved to Springville,
Utah, where he was raised. He was a graduate of Springville High School. He was a
gifted athlete and loved playing baseball. He earned a scholarship at a local college to
play baseball, but chose to serve his country instead. He served in the Utah National
Guard in the116th Engineer Company and was called to active duty during the Cold
War.
Bill married Mary Patrick on November 15, 1963, together they had five children, later
divorced. He was an Entrepreneur and owned businesses throughout his life. Our
families favorite business was the local fast food restaurant in Springville called Coach’s
Corner. He worked as a Real Estate Agent for many years.
Bill was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Some of his favorite times where shared with
friends and family camping and hunting. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, riding horses and
sports. He coached baseball for many years, sharing his skill and knowledge of the
game. While enhancing the lives of many young men, he led his teams to many winning
seasons.
Bill had a quick wit and great sense of humor that he kept throughout his life. He loved
his farm and raised a bountiful garden every year. With his many talents, he could fix
and build almost anything and excelled at everything he did.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed
teaching the gospel, one of his favorite callings was that of a Primary Teacher.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy Neff (Stan) Jensen, daughter-inlaw
Julie Neff. He is survived by his brother Terry Neff, children; Natalie (Shane)
Johnson of Spanish Fork, Brannon Neff of Mapleton, Brett (Kim) Neff of Payson,
Nannette (Clint) Jackson of Spanish Fork and Heather Neff of Spanish Fork, 10
grandchildren and 4 great-grand children.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11:00 am at the
Mapleton LDS Church, 1215 North 1000 West, interned at Evergreen Cemetery in
Springville. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00
p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South Springville, and Thursday morning at the
church from 9:45-10:45 prior to the services.
